Volvo XC90
Starting off our list is the Volvo XC90 Recharge, a seven seater SUV. It has a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a supercharger and a 11.6kWh lithium-ion battery. This allows the XC90 to travel 50 km entirely electric, which brings down the fuel consumption to 2.4 litres per 100km. Talk about fuel-efficient! It does come with a hefty price tag at RM 394k though.
Nissan Serena S-Hybrid
One of the MPV’s on our best MPV list, the Nissan Serena is one of the few MPVs that comes with a hybrid powertrain. Nissan claims it can achieve a fuel consumption rating of 14.2 kilometers per liter. Pretty impressive for a RM150k 7-seater MPV. It is also more affordable than the Volvo XC90 but not as fuel efficient.
Honda City RS

Combine that with a 5-star ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating, and multi angle rear view cameras, and the low price, the Honda City 1.5 RS is certainly one of the best hybrids in Malaysia.
BMW 530e iPerformace
Consuming only 2.0ℓ per 100km, the 530e iPerformance blows everything on this list out of the water when it comes to fuel efficiency. It achieves this with the B48 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine under the hood and a 9.2kWh lithium-ion battery just under the rear seats. This smaller battery compared to the Volvo XC90 translates to a slightly shorter all-electric range of 48km. All in all, it is an impressive vehicle priced at RM 344k.
