Kia is showcasing the Stinger GTS Special Edition for it’s all-important American market. The New York Auto Show is the place that the Korean marque showcases the Kia Stinger GTS, limited to just 800 units.

The Kia Stinger GTS Special Edition punches up its on-road prowess with a newly developed dynamic all-wheel drive system (D-AWD) that inspires more spirited driving.

WHAT THE BUZZ WITH THE NEW ALL-WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM

In efforts to close the gap to German rivals, the Kia Stinger GTS is gifted a new all-wheel-drive system with rear-wheel drive DNA. Dubbed D-AWD, the system has been tweaked to close the gap in behavior between the AWD-equipped and RWD-equipped Stinger GT. Other elements added to the system include a Mechanical LSD, a new Control Logic, Slip Control and Counter Steer Detection, Transmission Shift Pattern and Stability Control. The Stinger GTS offers 3 drive modes: Comfort, Sport and Drift. It is also available with Rear wheel-drive.

Under the hood, the Stinger GTS comes with a 3.3-liter V6 twin turbo boosting up to 365 horsepower and 510 Nm (376 lb-ft) of torque. It is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

To make it a special edition, the Stinger GTS is offered with an Exclusive “Federation” premium orange shade with plenty of carbon fiber parts on the ‘Tiger-nose’ grille, side mirrors and side vents. There’s a GTS rear emblem, as well as a center Stinger emblem which replaces the Kia logo on the trunk lid. The other highlight on the Stinger fastback is the unique Sunroof.

The special effects continue inside with steering and center console swathed in Alcantara and headliner blanketed in premium suede-like Chamude. A premium audio system is included in the form of a 720-watt Harman/Kardon with QuantumLogic7 and Clari-Fi8 signal enhancing technology, as well as a wireless charger.

Keeping it competitive, the Stinger GTS hits the sweet spot in terms of pricing. With a start of production planned for this spring, the limited edition GTS is expected to have an MSRP starting around $44,000 for RWD and around $46,500 for D-AWD.
