The Mazda CX-5 is by far the best selling SUV in Malaysia since its debut in 2012. Eversince, Mazda Malaysia has upgraded the car numerous times and had it built locally to keep the price point honest. The CX-5 has been the key model in Mazda Malaysia's entire repertoire up till present time.

Now, the CX-5 has again been updated for the year.  Here’s what new for the 2020 CX-5, let’s start on the inside, the Mazda Connect display screen atop the dashboard has been increased to 8-inches with a new display function on fuel efficiency included. The cabin gets ambient LED ligthing, while black, half-leatherette seats are available on higher CX-5 variants.

In the engine department, the 2020 CX-5 offers a host of petrol and diesel options that are paired to either Skyactiv-MT six-speed manual or Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmissions. Within this range, the 165 PS Skyactiv-G 2.0 liter petrol engine is now equipped with cylinder deactivation. Most CX-5 variants come standard with Mazda’s intelligent i-Activ all-wheel drive (AWD) system. In addition, the CX-5 with automatic transmission is now equipped with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts for swift actions.

To further enhance driving dynamics, the updated CX-5 is fitted with improved NVH (Noise Vibration and Harshness) control, steering vibration countermeasure for petrol variants and Off-road Traction Assist for All-wheel drive variants.

Safety aspects have been beefed up as well with two essential additions: an updated Advanced Smart City Brake Support (Advanced SCBS) with night-time pedestrian detection and automatic lights that activate earlier.
