Shell Initiates “1-Cent-Per-Litre” Campaign for Upcoming Festive Season

In the spirit of the festive period, Shell Malaysia kicks off its annual festive season campaign, entitled “You Buy, We Donate”. This initiative means everytime a customer pumps fuel during the stipulated period, Shell will offer “1-cent-per litre” contribution to various causes in the country. This festive CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) has been ongoing for a fifth consecutive year. Moreover, the collection days have been upped for 2019 and its now applicable for items bought at Shell Select stores. The campaign is scheduled from 30 May until 8 June.

For this year’s initiative, Shell will contribute to the National Cancer Society Malaysia, Food Aid Foundation and Malaysian Nature Society. The customer has the right to select the charity organization they wish to donate to (with a copy of receipt).  So for every one litre of Shell fuels pumped will see the company donating 1 cent to these charity organizations. On top of every 1-cent-per-litre, Shell will also donate a cent for every 1 Ringgit (RM1.00) spent in all Shell SELECT stores (excluding E-Pay products, Touch N Go purchases and other In-Store services.

Shell Malaysia’s MD Shairan Huzani Husain said, “This campaign is a meaningful journey for everyone. It’s about loved ones coming together, safely, to celebrate the festivities. This year, we decided to add to the “mass-rush- home” journey by spreading a little more cheer to those in need.”

“To make it extra special, we decided to increase our collection timeline to 10 days and incorporated spending at Shell SELECT to give our customers more opportunities to contribute to organizations in need,” he added.

To fuel this campaign, Mastercard has signed as partners for a second year. The financial guys are making extra contributions for the cause. For every litre of Shell fuels pumped and every RM1 spent at Shell SELECT, paid with any Mastercard credit or debit card, an additional cent will be contributed to Food Aid Foundation. “Mastercard is honored to continue the collaboration with Shell to encourage cardholders to contribute to a worthwhile cause each time they spend using their Mastercard card at Shell stations nationwide. The funds raised will go towards the provision of meals for children in need, especially during the Hari Raya festivities.” Perry Ong, Country Manager of Malaysia and Brunei, Mastercard, commented.

From 30 May – 8 June, drop by a Shell station and remember to participate in this most charitable of causes.
