Through the MCO (Movement Order Control) period, National carmakets Proton has introduced its Whatsapp chatbot, an interactive chat group to enable customers to get more information about the latest X70 SUV. Like several car companies in the country, Proton is following suit to enable customers to get in touch and retrieve more information about its star product.
What’s available with the chatbot?
To get started, users just logon to the link https://bit.ly/HiProtonX70 and they’ll be directed to the chatbot. The user then will be prompted to press “Send” to start. Users will next receive a text that includes a variety of options for the latest information on the 2020 X70. The information includes variants, prices, specifications, promotions, trade-in offers, financing and registration of interest.
The chatbot is relatively simple and requires users to just send replies in the form of numbers to get more information on corresponding options.
First quarter sales overview
Even with the outbreak, Proton is able to achieve sales growth for the first quarter of 2020. Sales jumped by 20.4%, compared to last year’s total. Proton delivered 21,757 units in the first three months of the year. This means market share has gone up from 17.4 to 20.1 percent for Proton in the TIV (Total Industry Volume). Top selling models for the first three months were the Saga (8,824 units), Iriz (2,009), Persona (5,677), and Exora (1,091)
As for the Proton X70, it sold 4,145 units for a drop of 48%, but it is still the top selling SUV in the country.
For March alone, the company sold a total of 3,277 units which is a 41% decrease from 2019 and a 67% decrease from February 2020. This is attributed to the outbreak and MCO.
