Porsche Malaysia unveiled the New Macan not long ago and there’re talks about a higher grade Macan to suffice power hungry luxury Sportscar folks. Fast forward to present and the scene of the Porsche Sportscar Together Day, the Macan S was introduced at the Sepang Circuit, last weekend.
The Porsche Macan S has full LEDs along with a lightbar, adopted from the 911. As an option, Porsche Dynamic Light System is available. As far as exterior goes, you get what you get with the Macan S; edgier and sharper tones here and there.
Inside, there’s a 10.9-inch full-HD touchscreen for all kinds of connectivity, with two audio interfaces and intelligent voice control. The interior is also made up of an optional GT sports steering wheel with switches including a Sport Response button, part of the optional Sport Chrono Package. There’s the ionizer, also an option, coupled with the fine particulate air filter fitted as standard.
HEIGHTEN PERFORMANCE AND DRIVE EXPERIENCE
A new three-liter V6 turbocharged engine with central layout pushes the Macan S 14 hp (354 hp) higher than the previous Macan and 20 Nm more torque to 480 Nm. A top speed of 254 km/h is attributed to the shortened exhaust paths between the combustion chambers. One more thing, the car is able to transition between performance and comfort-orientated driving with ease, responsiveness is immediate according to Porsche. There’s a built-in exhaust manifold for keeps.
When it comes to driving dynamics, the Macan S delivers more agility and stability than the standard Macan. Thanks to mixed tyres, Porsche Active Stability Management active damper control system, new shocks, adjustable suspension with rolling piston, Torque Vectoring and PTM (Porsche Traction Management) four-wheel drive, the Macan S has its distinctive sportiness indeed. In addition, aluminium spring forks replace its predecessor’s steel components on the front axle while the new light alloy design is more rigid and reduces unsprung mass for better precision steering and improved ride comfort.
Braking is one department where the Macan S excels. These are some attributes: larger front brake discs, with disc diameter increased by 10 mm to 360 mm, and disc thickness growing 2 mm to 36 mm, with the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB).
The Porsche Macan S gets a starting price of RM625,000, inclusive of Premium Package as standard and a four-year warranty and maintenance package.
