Mazda Malaysia has announced an introduction date for the New Mazda3, recognized as a new Era for the model. The New Mazda3 is slated for local debut in mid-July…

The Mazda3, in this country, has seen three generations; the first generation had a short lifespan when Bermaz Motor took over the Mazda brand in 2008. The first-gen Mazda3 was replaced by the second-generation Mazda3 in 2009. Second-generation Mazda3 was a bread and butter model for Bermaz Motor, from 2009 until 2012, before the arrival of the masterpiece CX-5. After a last update in 2013, the 2nd-gen Mazda3 gave way to the third-generation Mazda3. The first two generations of Mazda3 came in two enginevariants, a 1.6l and 2,0l, in basic and premium trims.

Third-generation Mazda3 came with plenty of industry-first innovations such as the famed KODO – Soul of Motion design, SKYACTIV engine and technology, MZD Connect and the i-ACTIVSENSE suite. Later on, G-Vectoring Control (GVC) is added to give the car a more dynamic and effective ride handling. Although only a 2.0-liter Mazda3 is on the specification sheet for the local market, the Mazda3 comes in three trim levels: Standard, High-spec Sedan and High-spec Hatchback. Speaking of hatchbacks, the previous generation Mazda3s were available with a hatchback as well, although limited in quantity.

The Mazda3 has been a locally-assembled model with late version of the 2nd-gen Mazda3 and the 3rd-gen Mazda3. It is possible that the New Mazda3 is available in a locally-assembled version, from the unveiling or later when market demand matures.

ARRIVAL OF A NEW ERA

The New Mazda3 was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in December 2018. Since then, sales is on-going in Japan, Europe and the U.S.

Now, the New Mazda3 is ready for a domestic debut. With a more mature SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture, the New Mazda3 gets a more aggressive KODO design proposition. Efforts are poured in to ensure it takes on a sharper and sleeker exterior to appease younger crowd. The interior is made up to be more interactive and intuitive with all the modern technologies.

The New Mazda3 is offered with three engine options; the latest SKYACTIV-X, SKYACTIV-G and SKYACTIV-D. Mazda Malaysia might introduce the diesel version, on top of the SKTACTIV-X and SKYACTIV-G variants.

As for driving dynamics, New Mazda3 promises a more enhanced driving attributes from accelerating, turning to braking.

Since 2003 with the first generation, the Mazda3 has sold over 6 million units worldwide.
