Kia has previewed the New K5 Optima Sedan for its home market. As with every Kia, in the Peter Schreyer era, it has a similar ring to it.
Everytime you’d hear about ‘Tiger Nose’ grille front-end signature, this time it is the Tiger Nose Evolution for the K5. This evolutionary front fascia entails a wide, 3-D effect that’s’ integrated to the grille and headlights, more organically (shark skin) than previous iterations of the K5 according to Kia. The headlights take on new ‘heartbeat’ DRLs, as part that ‘Evolutionary’ move.
At the side, the New K5 is obviously a large sedan which Kia has made it more ‘fastback’, a thing with large sedans these days. Feature highlight here is a distinctive crease that runs the length of the K5’s body, while a dash of chrome above the car’s new frameless windows to create that fastback effect. From the rear, the New K5 has a unique rear-combination lights design to pair with the car’s subtle rear wing. The unique rear light signature mirrors the slender ‘heartbeat’ motif found at the front of the car, while the flash of chrome from the roofline loops around the base of the rear screen. Wheels for the new large sedan come in 16- to 19-inch options in several rim designs.
The New Kia Optima is larger and wider than the previous generation. Kia has announced that sale of the new large sedan is expected to kick off in December in its home country first. No word has been out for global markets at this point in time
