The Mercedes-Benz AVTR is literally the Mercedes-Benz Avatar, inspired by the world of ‘Avatar’ Pandora. Pandora, on the other hand, denotes a new interaction between human, machine and nature.

This Conceptual vehicle by Mercedes-Benz has a distinctive inside-out design structure combines inside and outside into an emotional whole and was inspired by several creatures from the movie itself. The main highlights are the stretched "One Bow" design and organic elements all around.

From the rear, the Vision AVTR has  33 "bionic flaps", reminiscent of scales of reptiles. They can communicate with the driver and through the driver with their outside world through naturally flowing movements in subtle gestures. The Vision AVTR can even move sideways by approx. 30 degrees, in contrast to conventional vehicles.

What’s even more ‘Cool’ is on the inside, the Vision AVTR will come to life when the driver places his hands on the control unit. The control unit recognizes the driver’s heartbeat and breathing, like some biometric recognition. The seats comprise vegan DINAMICA microfiber leather. Meanwhile, the floor is decorated with an innovative wood called Karuun (Rattan). Rattan gives the interior warmth and radiates naturalness.

As the Vision AVTR is portrayed as a living creature or an organic being, the concept utilizes a graphene-based organic battery (compostable and recyclable) rather than usual li-on, this means free of fossil sources.

The Vision AVTR is currently displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
