In conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations, Honda Malaysia has rolled out the HR-V Hybrid alongside the already available HR-V RS at the scenic BoraOmbak in Putrajaya.
The compact, yet chic Honda HR-V needs no further introduction as the model is one of the top selling models in Honda Malaysia’s repertoire. After the recent move to beef up the HR-V, Honda Malaysia decided to offer a cost efficient variant to spur popularity in the model further. Hence, the Honda HR-V Hybrid i-DCD was introduced. The i-DCD system which combines an electric motor and a 1.5-liter engine is inherited from the popular Honda Jazz. A seven-speed dual clutch is paired to the powerplant to provide a more seamless gear shift an a somewhat dynamic drive. The 7-speed gearbox is a step up from the original CVT standard gearbox. With a 132 PS and 190 Nm combined torque, the HR-V Hybrid serves most daily commutes with the greatest of ease.
Exterior-wise, the HR-V Hybrid shares the standard 17-iinch wheel size of the E and V versions. Being a hybrid, the car comes with a repair kit for punctures instead of the 16-inch temporary tyre.
The HR-V Hybrid overall weight is slightly increased at 1,300 kilograms from the standard’s 1271 kgs. Due to the inclusion of the Li-on battery pack, boot space is decreased a bit from 437 to 404 liters.
Priced from RM 120,460, the Honda HR-V Hybrid is offered in three colors: White Orchid, Lunar Silver Metallic and Modern Steel Metallic. Honda Modulo upgrades are available for the HR-V Hybrid to deck out the exterior and interior: choose from Modulo, Urban and Utility mode. A five-year unlimited warranty comes standard, as does a 5-time free labor service for hybrids.
