One of Honda’s best selling models in Malaysia is the BR-V, Honda Malaysia realizes this and has announced updates for its BR-V (Bold Runabout Vehicle) Compact MPV or, as they term it, BR-V Crossover.
The Honda BR-V is an entirely new model when Honda Malaysia introduced it way back in 2017. This Crossover is a combination of an SUV and an MPV, not to over emphasize the obvious. Honda terms the BR-V as an all-rounder crossover, which appeals to mid-income families and the younger crowd. The BR-V was developed exclusively by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., Ltd. (HRAP) for Asian markets, including Malaysia. Since its inception in 2017, Honda Malaysia has sold about 36,000 units, as at January 2020.
What’s new in the 2020 Honda BR-V
The 2020 Honda BR-V has been given bolder exterior traits such as a fresh bumper with grille, new garnishes on lower bumper & foglights, rear bumper with new garnish, a shark-fin antenna and lastly, new 16-inch wheels.
As a 7-seater, the BR-V stands out when it comes to total convenience. For this year’s edition, Honda added keyless entry and push start switch to improve convenience to a higher level. These new features are standard across the board.
The engine remains the similar 1.5l single overhead cam i-VTEC, producing 120PS and 145Nm of torque. This vehicle is meant to be a family cruiser or transporter and nothing more. For 2020, the BR-V has leather seats with red accents to make the interior more contemporary. Meanwhile, cabin space is one of the key USPs for this model: it fits seven (five adults and 2 children), has a large boot, and the third row seats are adjustable with 50:50 tilt & full tumble to fit more stuff in the boot
With this announcement, the BR-V is officially available at 100 Honda dealerships around the country for bookings. The price of the BR-V has not yet been confirmed at this point as Honda Malaysia plans to unveil it at an official launch ceremony, within the quarter.
