Porsche Malaysia this week teased the new 911 Speedster in a viper setup prior to its grand unveiling. The Porsche 911 Speedster pays homage to motorsports and Porsche’s 70 years of continuous development of the world's most recognizable sports car,
IAs a tribute to the 356 “No. 1” Roadster with the optional Heritage Design package (Style Porsche and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur), the 911 Speedster takes the driver back to the roots of the Porsche brand.
Mimicking the 911 Carrera Cabriolet, the Speedster as a Roadster features a light roof structure. Plus, it has shortened window frames with lowered cowl top panels and smaller side windows (electrically adjustable Sport Design). Other highlights include carbon-fiber hood, a front apron like the GT3, a new front lip, a central-locking windscreen frame, fabric side fins, GT3 Touring rear spoiler with apron, and large, carbon-fiber rear lid. The covers are removable at a push of a switch.
The supercar is offered with Herirage Design package which includes interior in Black and Cognac with golden details, special “spears” paintwork in White, Sports decals, and the Porsche crests, gold-colored logos and historic “Porsche” lettering on the sides all corresponds to the designs used in the 50s and 60s. .
Moving inside, the 911 Speedster's cabin has black leather elements for the side bolsters and head restraints. The seats comprise of carbon-fiber composite in ull-bucket variants, as do the armrests and gear lever. The center panels of the seats are upholstered in perforated leather, while the lightweight door panels with black door pulls and stowage nets. “Speedster” logos adorn the head restraints and the visible carbon door sills as well as the central rev counter. Like the other instruments, it has black dials with white needles as well as green digits and scales. Lastly, a limited-edition badge on the cross structure behind the front seats shows the serial number of the 911 Speedster, which is limited to just 1,948 units.
At the heart
A naturally aspirated 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, paired to a manual 6-speed with Autoblip function, delivers a peak power of 510 hp and churns a maximum torque of 470 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The new 911 Speedster accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h.
The driving dynamics of the Speedster is enhanced by the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) variable damping system and a mechanical rear differential lock with asymmetric locking.
