The Racing Orange is a fitting hue for this Iconic roadster to give it a striking and vivid body color. This color is inspired from the Yellow MX-5 Club Racer showed at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show, when the then 1st-gen MX-5 made its very first public appearance. The 30th Anni. MX-5’s special color symbolizes sunrise to stir a sense of anticipation. The Racing Orange color is a precision blend of the pigments to create a special orange with an optimum balance of intensity and brilliance. To better express the MX-5’s pure sports car character, the Mazda pips used a gloss rather than metallic finish. The vivid orange body contrasts starkly with exterior parts such as the piano black A-pillars, door mirrors, the RF’s roof and seatback garnishes as well as the dark gunmetal wheels.
As a special edition, the MX-5 Racing Orange receives plenty of good stuff such as the forged aluminium/dark gunmetal wheels by RAYS, Recaro seats, Brembo/Nissin calipers, Bilstein dampers and BOSE Premium Audio System.
The RAYS wheels are the ones found in the MX-5 Cup race car, while the Brembo front calipers are painted in Orange and the Nissin rears are also in Orange. Co-developed by Mazda and Rays, the wheels are further enhanced by “30th Anniversary” emblems. Soft top Japanese version MX-5 gets 16-inch wheels, while the Hard top RF version for Japan and all models for global markets get 17-inch wheels.
Moving inside, the seats are specially curated by Recaro with contrasting orange stitching and piping. To make it commemorative, Orange contrast stitching is avaible on the door trim, instrument panel and gear lever, while orange piping stands out powerfully on the black seats. In addition, seat headrests each feature a pair of built-in speakers with sound tuned by TrueSpace technology by BOSE. This enables enjoyment of clear and powerful sound in any driving environment, even with the top down.
On ride handling, MX-5’s Bilstein dampers combined with the engine strut brace, LSD and Rays wheels provide an even more controlled yet refined ride, compared to a regular MX-5.
Lastly, the Brembo fronts feature 15-inch aluminium calipers with four opposed pistons (34mm diameter) mated to low-carbon steel pads with a stable friction coefficient. This Brembo braking system achieves an extremely rigid feel in high-G driving situations, with consistent effectiveness and outstanding control.
