BMW Malaysia unveils New X Series Range

New BMW X2 M35I, X4 and X5

Prepping up its X Series range, BMW Malaysia unveiled the New X2 M35i, the locally-assembled X4 and New X5 at a local function in the Capital City.

The New X5 needs no introduction as its deemed the founding father of BMW’s X Series SUV range.  Fresh for 2019, the X5 gets a sculpted bonnet, shorter front overhangs, the familiar kidneys, slimmer adaptive LED headlights, 3-D wrap-around LED rearlights and large rectangular exhausts, as well as 20-inch wheels. To deck the X5 in M trims, there’s an M Sport brakes with fixed callipers in a dark blue paint finish and an M logo.

Dimension-wise, the X5 has been enlarged proportionately compared to its predecessor.

The interior is what you’ve come to expect from a BMW; the M elements add a certain prestige all-around to go with the adjustable sport seats decked in Vernasca Leather upholstery and ambient lighting. There’s an electronic tail gate and a clearer Panoramic glass roof   Then, there’s your info and multimedia systems with BMW Live Cockpit, an accessible 12.3-inch touchscreen instrument cluster, BMW ConnectedDrive and a heads-up display in color.

Under the hood, the New X5 has a 3.0--liter six-cylinder, bi-turbo petrol engine that pushes 340 hp and a peak torque of 450 Nm, with top speed of 243km/h. The SUV’s fuel consumption Is now 9.2 l/100km. The powertrain includes an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

Equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension and five-link rear suspension with Adaptive M Suspension, the New BMW X5 is all about Sheer Driving Pleasure.

The latest generation of the X5 comes with a more comprehensive suite of driver’s assistance systems, flagged by the latest BMW Personal CoPilot.

At the unveiling, the New BMW X5 retails for RM 640,000 gross price listing.

Taking the SAC segment to a whole new level: BMW X2

The looks of the refreshed BMW X2 emulates the founding father but with its own pertinent identity such as a front grille in Cerium Grey, a redesigned side air inlets, positioned at the front, and exterior mirrors in Cerium Grey. From the rear, there’s a distinctive M rear spoiler and double M Sport exhausts with silencer (100mm in diameter). Like the X5, the X2 carries 20-inch wheels, however it differs slightly with a two-tone color.

Inside, the X2 has plenty of elements derived from the X5 namely the M Sport leather steering with shift paddles, interior trim finishers in Aluminium Hexagon Anthracite and door entry trims with “M35i” insignia. Sport seats and Dakota leather upholstery make for a comfort ride. For entertainment and infotainment purposes, Harman Kardon 12-Speaker sound system with Navigation Plus on an 8.8-inch touchscreen is there to suffice tthe driver and passengers.

With the 2.0-liter bi-turbo paired with an 8-speed Steptronic gearbox, the X2 pushes an impressive 306 hp and a max torque of 450Nm.

The X2 is offered in Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Galvanic Gold, Misano Blue and Sunset Orange. Inside, the cabin is decked in Black Dakota leather upholstery with Black perforations or Magma Red with Grey-Highlighted perforations. It retails for RM400,000.

New BMW X4 previewed

At the middle of the SAC range, the New X4 is a domestically assembled unit to be perceived as a sportier Crossback than its immediate siblings.  To accentuate its sporty demeanor, the X4 gets a long bonnet, low windscreen with acoustic glass, and a coupe-style roofline. More sporty elements are seen at the side with an athletic shoulder area and slim, wrap-around rearlights with 3-D effect. To top it off, the 2nd-gen X4 has 20-inch M double-spoke wheels with mixed tyres.

Inside, the X4 brings about the 4+1-seater’s cockpit to match the steering with launch control, a 10.25-inch touchscreem, BMW ConnectedDrive, heads-up display and a huge 12.3-inch instrument display with Black-Panel Technology. Furthermore, the X2 has a Voice control system to allow voice interactions.

Beneath the hood, a powerful 2.0l petrol bi-turbo pumps 252hp with a peak torque of 350 Nm. It has a top speed of 240 km/h and dashes the century sprint in 6.3 seconds

A lighter frame and xDrive all-wheel drive with adaptive suspension ensures the X4 is agile and offers top-notch handling.

Slated for arrival at dealerships on 1 June, the New BMW X4 is offered in Alpine White, Carbon Black, Flamenco Red and Phytonic Blue. For the interior Black Vernasca leather upholstery is available for all exterior offerings while the new Tacora Red Vernasca leather upholstery is exclusive to Alpine White and Carbon Black. The X4 retails from RM 380,000.
