Toyota Alphard and Vellfire have been popular choices for Malaysians when it comes to premium MPV, for a better part of the past decade. To ring in 2020, Toyota Malaysia has released information about the updated Alphard and Vellfire, both imported from Japan.
As both Toyota Alphard and Vellfire are at the Premium category, Toyota Malaysia doesn’t feel the need to alter the design much. The Alphard’s design is maintained with the "Dynamic & Formal" concept, whereas the Vellfire is defined by the "Cool Tech" concept. Both MPVs’ interiors are brought forward as well.
What’s new with 2020 Alphard and Vellfire
The 2020 Alphard and Vellfire are both splashed with new safety and connectivity features, to go with Toyota Malaysia’s 360-T New Brand Experience Strategy. The 2020 safety suite comprises Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), Parking Support Brake System, Front & Rear Digital Video Recorder (DVR), Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). For connectivity, both MPVs now has that 9-inch touchsscreen AVX Infotainment System with smartphone connectivity.
Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) is implemented for the MPVs to ensure a safer package, obviously. TSS is a suite of advanced safety systems comprising iPre-collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). The other new additions are the Parking Support Brake, Panoramic View Monitor, Vehicle Telematics system (anti-theft system) and TPMS.
The 2020 Toyota Alphard comes in two variants and the Vellfire has one variant. The Vellfire starts RM383,000 and the Alphard from RM465,000. Color options are Luxury White Pearl CS GF (only for Alphard 3.5 Executive Lounge and Alphard 3.5L); Burning Black CS GF (only for Vellfire 2.5L); and White Pearl C, Graphite Metallic and Black (available for both Alphard and Vellfire).
