10th-generation Honda Accord finally sees light in Malaysia

The Honda Accord has been a marquee large sedan in Malaysia for decades. Now in its 10th-Generation, the New Accord finally gets the limelight with a soft introduction vy Honda Malaysia, yesterday. Introduced alongside the 2020 Civic, the New Accord has the Honda Sensing suite and everything else fitting for a flagship sedan.  

The overall appearance of the 10th Generation Accord has a wider stance, lower roofline and longer hood;  highlighting a sleeker and classier posture alongside Honda signature chrome wing front grille, full LED headlights and rearlights. Completing the contemporary masculine exterior of the Accord is the unique 18-inch wheels with noise-reduction Resonators.

 

Inside, cabin is bigger by a slight margin thanks to an increased wheelbase by 55mm. Legroom has 48mm more space, too. As previous generations, the current Accord’s interior finishing sets a class-leading standard by providing a touch of classiness while the leather application on seats further adds elegance and sophistication.

 

Incorporated with numerous technological innovations, the Accord has many new practical features, including the 4-way Assistant Power Seat with Shoulder Switch, Wireless Charging feature on center console, Driver’s Seat Memory, Walk Away Auto Lock and Remote Engine Start. In addition, the instrument panel and decoration panel is accentuated by an 8-inch display and 7-inch instrument cluster.

 

Built quality and NVH are very much improved thanks to newly adopted laser brazing to join the roof and body side panels of the car. Furthermore, spray foam is used to provide extra sound insulation and enhance cabin quietness. The application of High-Performance Adhesive (HPA) further improves the structure and rigidity of the body for better durability, as well as reduces noise and betters ride and handling.

 

The 2020  Accord is equipped with a 1.5 turbo, the first large sedan with a turbo powertrain. Output is 201PS and 260Nm of torque.

 

The Accord is loaded with the eight Honda Sensing essentials:

  • Low Speed Follow (LSF)
  • Auto High-Beam (AHB)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

 

Other driving  assistance systems onboard are Smart Parking Assist System with Brake Assist (Rear),  Multiview Camera System (360° Camera), Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) and Electric Parking Brake with Brake Assist. Standard safety features on the Accord compirse six airbags, VSA, ABS, EBD, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), front and rear parking sensors with Multi-angle Rearview Camera and Isofix.

The New Honda Accord is priced at RM185,900 for the 1.5 TC variant and RM195,900 for the 1.5 TC-P variant. Four colors are available Crystal Black Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic and the new Platinum White Pearl.
