Audi has announced the TT RS Coupe and TT RS Roadster for the European markets, effectively second quarter of the year. Both TT RS incorporate an able five-cylinder engine that delivers 400 metric horsepower. The Audi TT has been an iconic model of sorts in the four-ring marque line-up and now, the TT RS and Coupe versions have been gifted an extra masculine frame at the front and rear.
At the front, the matt black single frame grille is paired with a matt titanium-look quattro emblem and gloss black lower section grille, as well as larger lateral air intakes. Additional radiators behind the RS honeycomb grille and intakes make the TT RS appear wider at a glance. The spoiler blades, painted in body color or matt aluminum or gloss black, add that motorsport-inspired look to the front. In addition, there’s the gloss black inlay in the side sill and exterior mirror housings (body color, matt aluminum look, gloss black, and carbon). The headlights come with standard LEDs or matrix LEDs as an option, the taillights are OLED reversing lights. From the rear, the fixed wing with winglets give an immediate impact, as do the RS-specific diffusor and two large oval exhaust pipes.
Colors available are new RS-specific color Kyalami green, Pulse orange and Turbo blue, along with matt aluminum and gloss black styling packages to highlight the front blade and rear wing. Even the Audi rings and the TT RS model logo can be had in black on the front and rear as an option. The fabric top of the TT RS Roadster is black. If that’s not enough, Audi has various options for individualization.
Moving inside, the Audi TT RS comes with a host of controls and displays, an infotainment hub, a Bang & Olufsen sound system and RS sport seats with the rhombus pattern in Alcantara (Nappa leather, option) . Furthermore, RS logos are decked out on the seats, steering wheel, door sill trims and selector levers. Meantime, the Audi virtual cockpit with a 12.3-inch screen provide information on tyre pressure, torque, and g-forces. In manual mode, the shift light display prompts the driver to upshift when the maximum engine speed is reached. In addition to multifunction buttons, the RS sport leather steering wheel with shift paddles features two satellite controls for turning the engine on and off as well as the Audi drive select dynamic handling system.
The new RS design package adds red or blue highlights to the car on the air vent doors, seat belts, and floor mats with the RS logo. The extended RS design package also offers contrasting design elements on the seats and center console.
Audi TT RS: A five-cylinder 400 metric hp to fulfill all desires
Powering the TT RS range is the five-cylinder, 294 kW (400 metric horsepower) with 480 Nm (354.0 lb-ft) of torque, while quattro all-wheel drive gives a certain satisfaction to almost everyone. The TT Coupe, for instance, punches 0 – 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. Max torque is available between 1,950 and 5,850 rpm. The top speed is regulated at 250 km/h (155.3 mph) or an optional 280 km/h (174.0 mph).
A seven-speed S Tronic transmission with multi-plate clutch is paired to give the TT RS range seamless gear shifts whenever required.
To make handling even better, the wheel-selective torque control and Audi drive select dynamic system offer more agility, safety and dynamics. There are four drive modes to choose from: comfort, auto, dynamic and individual. The car’s low weight of 1,450 kg on TT RS Coupé without driver plus the sporty suspension are the basis of the TT RS’s excellent handling.
With an upscale performance comes dependable braking
At the front axle, ventilated and perforated steel discs are in action behind the 19-inch or 20-inch wheels. The brake calipers are painted black as standard but are available in red as an option. As an option, the RS sport suspension plus is available with adaptive dampers in Audi magnetic ride technology. Their control technology is also integrated into the Audi drive select dynamic handling system.
The Audi TT Coupé and Roadster hit German dealers first in the second quarter of the year at these starting prices Coupé at EUR 67,700 and Roadster at EUR 70,500.
